Bear Butt best way to clean your hammock

Hammocks are a great sleeping companion to have. Whether you are an outdoor adventurer or you just want to chill in your own backyard, hammocks make life so much better.

However you use your hammock, it’s important that you clean it from time to time. This will help to prolong its life as well as provide a clean sleeping or lounging spot. Following the steps below will ensure your hanging nest stays in tip-top shape.

1) Remove Excess Gear

Remove any carabiners or straps that may be attached to the hammock and store them in a safe place.

2) Check The Fabric

The next step is to scan the hammock’s surface. Check for any mold, mildew, bugs, or anything else that may be of concern.

3) Wash The Hammock

Bearbutt hammocks can be washed either by hand or in a washing machine.

Hand washing: Fill a tub with cool water and use a gentle detergent. Do not use fabric softeners or bleach. With a soft bristle brush, gently scrub the surface of the hammock in a circular motion. Once completed, empty the tub and refill it with fresh water until the water runs clear (you may have to do this several times). Alternatively, you can rinse the hammock using a hose.

Machine washing: The most efficient way, of course, is to use a washing machine. Use a gentle detergent and run it on the delicate cycle. Use cold water, and do not wash it with other laundry.

4) Drying

Although we don’t recommend using a drying machine (the heat could damage the fabric), our hammocks are easy to dry nonetheless. Just find a space (an outdoor line is best but a balcony or two chairs indoors works fine too), and your hammock will be dry before you know it. The more air circulation the better!
